History:
The Vatican flag, also referred to as the Papal flag, has been flown over Vatican City for well over 75 years. This flag is not only flown over the city, it is known as an international symbol of the Holy See: the Pope. The Vatican flag offers two primary colors: vibrant yellow and pure white. These colors are represented equally on the flag each composing a vertical half of its entirety. Centered in the white portion of the flag are the silver and gold keys of Saint Peter which are wrapped in red thread. These keys sit directly under the Papal Tiara.
