Maine State Flag
History of the Maine State Flag:
The history of the Maine state flag dates back to 1901 when the Maine State Legislature passed an act to establish an official flag. This flag was buff in color and offers a pine tree in its center. A blue polar star was also included. In 1909 it was added that the flag should include the state’s coat of arms. Over the years the flag has also been changed to be blue instead of buff and include a banner beneath the coat of arms that reads “Maine” and one above it that shows the state’s motto “Dirigo” meaning “I Direct.” This composes the Maine flag we know today
